Google Photos Finally Launches Long-Awaited Image Flipping Option

Google Photos, widely regarded as a top-tier photo backup service, is expanding its editing features. Previously, while users enjoyed powerful tools for enhancing images, one essential function was notably missing: the ability to flip or mirror an image. Despite the advanced capabilities, such as AI-powered sky color adjustments, flipping an image wasn't possible—until now.

According to several Reddit users, Google Photos has quietly introduced a Flip option within its crop tool, allowing users to mirror photos or flip them horizontally. Interestingly, this new feature also works for videos. Once an image or video is flipped, users can save it as a copy, preserving the original version.

Previously, Google Photos allowed cropping, rotating, and adjusting aspect ratios, but flipping images was a glaring omission. This new feature is especially handy for those who want to flip selfies without relying on their phone’s camera mirror settings.

However, this feature is currently limited to the mobile app version of Google Photos and hasn't been extended to the web version. The update appears to be rolling out gradually via a server-side push, meaning users may need to wait even after updating to the latest version.
