Say Hello to MiniMax, Taking AI Video Generation to New Heights with Hyper-Realistic Footage

China’s latest AI marvel, MiniMax, is gaining attention for its ability to create hyper-realistic video content, including human footage with accurate hand movements—a challenge that other tools have faced difficulty with. Backed by Alibaba and Tencent, the unicorn startup has also seen success with its AI companion app, Talkie, which has been downloaded over 15 million times.

A recent demo showcased a magical adventure created entirely by AI from text prompts, highlighting the platform's capability to produce seamless special effects and lifelike characters. MiniMax video-01, released in early September, quickly gained traction on social media both in China and internationally.

Founder Yan Junjie revealed that their video model surpasses competitors like Runway, and the company is already developing version-02, which will include features like image-to-video and extended clip generation.
