Nigerian-based digital identity solutions provider, Seamfix, has secured a significant funding boost of US$4.5 million to bolster its technology infrastructure, streamline data flow crucial for continental trade and integration, and initiate the expansion of its digital ID and credential services into five additional African countries.

Co-founded by Chimezie Emewulu and Chibuzor Onwurah, Seamfix specializes in offering identity management, data capture, and process automation solutions tailored for large businesses and government entities globally.

With an impressive portfolio serving notable organizations including Veremark, Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), and telecom giants like MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9 Mobile, Seamfix has facilitated seamless creation, verification, and access to trusted digital identities and services for its clients and their customers worldwide.

This latest funding round, secured from Alitheia IDF, a US$100 million gender-lens fund dedicated to supporting SMEs led by gender-diverse teams, marks Seamfix’s first institutional investment milestone.

The injection of capital is poised to fuel the company’s expansion efforts, targeting key markets in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Uganda.

Expressing enthusiasm about the funding, Chimezie Emewulu stated, “We are thrilled to announce this new funding, which marks a significant milestone in our journey of shaping the future of digital ID verification in Africa and connecting Africa to the rest of the world. Digital identity is a right – not a privilege – and this belief underpins our innovation and commitment to enabling individuals and businesses in Africa to access all the benefits that come with having verifiable identities”

Emewulu further added, “This investment not only validates our vision but also empowers us to expand our reach and innovate further. We are thankful for the support from Alitheia IDF and their commitment to our mission, and we are excited to lead the charge in shaping a digitally inclusive Africa.”
