OpenAI Introduces GPT-4o Mini
OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, announced the launch of GPT-4o mini, a cost-effective and smaller AI model, designed to make its technology more affordable and energy-efficient. This move aims to attract a wider range of customers.
Supported by Microsoft, OpenAI is a leader in the AI software industry and is striving to make it easier and cheaper for developers to create applications using its models. This effort comes amid intense competition from well-funded rivals like Meta and Google, who are also vying for a larger market share.
The GPT-4o mini is priced at 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million output tokens, making it over 60% cheaper than GPT-3.5 Turbo, according to OpenAI.
In terms of performance, the GPT-4o mini surpasses the GPT-4 model in chat preferences and achieved a score of 82% on the Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU) benchmark, as stated by OpenAI.
