Edtech Klas Aims to Become the "Shopify for Education" with $1M Pre-Seed Investment
Klas, a Nigerian edtech firm, has acquired $1 million in pre-seed capital to support its aim of making online education more accessible and empowering content creators around the world.
Ingressive Capital led the funding round, which included participation from Techstars, HoaQ Capital, and angel investors.
Klas, founded in 2022 by Nathan Nwachuku and Lekan Adejumo, intends to be the "Shopify for education" by providing an easy-to-use platform for individuals to produce and sell online courses, ebooks, and live classes.
The platform caters to a wide array of subjects, spanning coding, design, finance, art, and languages, and incorporates essential features such as payment processing, scheduling tools, analytics, video conferencing capabilities, and community-building functionalities.
Bolstered by this recent infusion of capital, Klas is setting ambitious targets.
The company aims to support the establishment of 100,000 virtual educational institutions worldwide by 2027, with a particular emphasis on expanding its footprint in North America and India, where it enjoys a significant user base.
“We want to make it easy for anyone to share their knowledge and expertise with the world,” explains Nwachuku, Klas’ CEO. “Klas empowers aspiring educators and entrepreneurs to build their own online schools and reach a global audience.”
