Helios Launches $200 Million Fund to Drive Africa’s Climate Resilience Initiatives
Helios Investment Partners has successfully raised an initial $200 million for climate mitigation and adaptation projects, with support from Britain's development finance institution, the European Investment Bank, and other climate-focused investors.
The Helios Climate, Energy Access, and Resilience (CLEAR) Fund, which aims to become the largest Africa-focused climate fund by reaching a target of $400 million, has also attracted investment from the Dutch development bank, according to a statement from the partners.
The CLEAR Fund will focus on companies involved in low-carbon energy, climate-smart agriculture and food, climate-friendly mobility and logistics, recycling and resource efficiency, and digital and financial climate "enablers."
Anneliese Dodds, UK Minister for Development, emphasized the UK's commitment to reclaiming its position as a global leader in climate action. "We must act now to prevent further environmental destruction that could drive illegal migration, conflict, and famine worldwide," she stated.
