UAE and Germany Forge Alliance for Sustainable Industrial Growth
During the Munich Security Conference held in Munich, Germany, the UAE's Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology and Germany's State of Baden-Württemberg inked a significant Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI).
The agreement aims to bolster sustainable industrial growth, with a focus on enhancing supply chain resilience, advancing technology, promoting decarbonization efforts, and fostering cooperation.
Notable signatories to the declaration included representatives from the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour & Tourism, as well as the state’s Ministry of Environment, Climate Protection, and the Energy Sector.
This collaborative effort is set to engage both public and private sector entities from the UAE and Baden-Württemberg to enhance bilateral relations.
It also aims to encourage green industrial investments under the Make it in the Emirates initiative. Key areas of collaboration highlighted in the agreement include Artificial Intelligence (AI), smart manufacturing, smart health, and aerospace technologies.
Furthermore, the partnership seeks to expedite industrialization and decarbonization projects in alignment with the UAE’s national industrial strategy and its commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, as outlined in the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative, and in compliance with the Paris Agreement goals.
In addition to promoting sustainable industrial practices, the JDI emphasizes capacity building and skill development.
This will be facilitated through joint research efforts and internship programs within companies engaged in priority projects.
The JDI was formally endorsed by Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology representing the UAE, Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg, and Thekla Walker, Minister of the Environment, Climate Protection, and Energy of the State of Baden-Württemberg, underscoring the commitment of both parties towards fostering a sustainable industrial landscape.
