A leading telecom company has acquired Iraq-based Eduba, a prominent edtech platform, in a seven-figure deal. While the exact value remains undisclosed, this acquisition underscores Iraq’s growing momentum in the education and technology sectors.

Eduba’s Journey from a Startup to a Market Leader

Founded in Baghdad in 2019 by Azad Hassan, Haider Shaban, and Raad Kazem, Eduba initially launched as a school management app. Its rapid growth earned accreditation from Iraq’s Ministry of Education, driving adoption across private schools. Over the years, Eduba expanded its offerings to include a full suite of educational solutions for students from kindergarten to high school.

Funding Challenges and Competitive Takeover

Despite its achievements, Eduba struggled to secure investments. Co-founder Azad Hassan noted that many Iraqi investors aim for full control rather than equity stakes. Nevertheless, Eduba attracted interest from major Iraqi tech firms, sparking a competitive bidding war. The telecom giant’s acquisition signals growing confidence in Iraq's edtech potential.
