Job Description

As a content publisher, Lucidity Insights, is publishing several articles and videos each day, and several investigative reports each month. As an Associate Editor, you will be responsible for working closely with our editorial team to produce engaging and informative content that meets the needs of our readers. We are looking for an Associate Editor who can not only write articles, including conducting research and interviews to support those articles, but also support in the research and development of the larger investigative reports. Our Editorial Team must have a passion for research and data – as we are data-hunters first, and story-tellers second. We are also looking for someone who is capable of copy-writing and editing articles and digital media content (ie. Short- and long-form videos) developed by our team, who may not be native English speakers. Knowledge of SEO optimization techniques weaving keywords into articles

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with writers, editors, and other stakeholders to develop and execute compelling content strategies that align with our publication's mission and values.
• Edit and proofread articles for accuracy, clarity, tone, and style, while maintaining the highest standards of journalism and editorial integrity.
• Conduct research and analysis to uncover new and interesting angles for our stories, and work with writers to refine their pitches and submissions.
• Help manage our editorial calendar, including scheduling articles for publication, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely delivery of content.
• Assist in the development of editorial guidelines and standards, and help maintain consistency across our publication's various channels and platforms.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in the tech startup ecosystems
  of the Middle East and Africa region, and provide insights and analysis to inform our
  content strategies.

Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field 2+ years of experience in journalism or content editing, with a focus on business, technology, or related topics.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft engaging and informative content that resonates with our target audience.
• Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into compelling stories and insights.
• Familiarity with data-driven storytelling and data analysis tools, such as Excel or Google Sheets, is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
• A passion for storytelling, journalism, and the tech startup ecosystems of the Middle East and Africa region.
