India-born fintech startup Zinc, co-founded by PaySense’s Prashanth Ranganathan, raised $25.5 million in seed funding led by Nexus Venture Partners. The round included support from Quona Capital, EDBI, Global Ventures, and Saison Capital, enabling Zinc to drive product innovation, expand services, and secure financial licenses to support families in funding their children’s international education.

Headquartered in Singapore, Zinc is also launching a joint wealth fund with Leo Wealth, set to debut in November. Ranganathan, who previously co-founded Truvie Security (acquired by PayPal in 2011), recognized a strong demand among Indian parents for overseas education options, citing increased competitiveness in India’s domestic education market.

“I realised that there is a huge latent demand among people who are looking to send their kids overseas for education, not for any other reason but (because) they find it very competitive in the domestic market,” Ranganathan said. “I noticed that most parents have the aspiration of wanting to send their kids overseas and having them educated on the global stage.”

Nexus Venture Partners’ Anup Gupta expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Zinc, emphasizing the startup’s mission to support families’ global education ambitions through a blend of educational and financial advisory services.

As part of its services, Zinc recently launched ‘Zinc Honors,’ featuring its AI-powered advisor, Ada, to guide students aiming to study abroad.
