DataPathology, a Moroccan MedTech startup with a vision to revolutionize diagnostic medicine, has successfully secured a significant investment in its latest funding round, as reported by AfrikanHeroes. Through a partnership with Azur Innovation Fund, a private-public seed fund supported by Tamwilcom and managed by Azur Partners, the company has raised $1 million (10 million DH, Moroccan Dirhams). This follows Azur Innovation Fund's recent investment of $1.1 million in PrestaFreedom, a home services platform catering to individuals in Morocco with subscription-based cleaning and other services.

Established in 2020 by Mohammed El Khannoussi and Hicham El Attar, DataPathology's main objective is to address the lack of and delays in cancer diagnosis by providing quick and secure pathological diagnoses to patients, particularly in medically underserved countries in Africa. The startup has developed an innovative process that involves conducting biopsies and preparing tissue samples at the patient's examination site. These samples are then digitized and securely transferred to the medical team for diagnosis through a web platform, ensuring anonymity and efficiency.

The recent funding secured from Azur Innovation Fund will empower DataPathology to expand its network of laboratories across Morocco and Africa. The company aims to strengthen its infrastructure and logistics to handle a higher volume of integrated and processed data within its platform. Additionally, DataPathology has established the first digital pathological diagnosis center in Morocco, solidifying its commitment to improving diagnostic capabilities in the region.
