Baims, a prominent edtech company based in Kuwait, recently announced its acquisition of the Egyptian live learning platform, Orcas Tutoring.

This strategic move aims to amplify the flourishing $100 billion education sector within the MENA region, as highlighted in a recent press release.

The acquisition comes on the heels of a successful fundraising effort where Orcas Tutoring and Baims collectively amassed over $11 million.

This capital influx was driven by a consortium of leading investors, including Access Bridge Ventures, Algebra Ventures, NFX Ventures, AlWazzan Educational Group, Rasameel Investment Company, Seedstars International Ventures, and AK Holding.

Yousef Al Husaini, the CEO of Baims, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "By acquiring Orcas Tutoring, we are not just expanding our reach; we are redefining the EdTech landscape in MENA. This consolidation enables us to offer a comprehensive learning experience, combining our online tailored recorded courses with Orcas Tutoring's personalized one-to-one tutoring platform."

Echoing this sentiment, Hossam Taher, CEO of Orcas Tutoring, shared, "Our aim is to establish product and market synergies by introducing personalised K12 tutoring services in the GCC and subsequently expanding our portfolio to cater to the diverse needs of university students."

Baims has carved a niche for itself by providing customized online courses catering to university students spanning Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.

This acquisition strategically positions Baims to enhance its educational offerings by seamlessly integrating Orcas Tutoring's acclaimed tutoring services.

The collaboration between these edtech giants is poised to craft a holistic and adaptive learning ecosystem, catering to students across the MENA region.

In parallel, Baims has set its sights on expanding its footprint in Saudi Arabia, identifying Riyadh as the burgeoning startup epicenter of the region.

As part of its growth trajectory, the company is gearing up to unveil an innovative AI-driven test preparation solution tailored for the Kingdom.

Additionally, Baims envisions broadening its academic services to encompass more universities within the Gulf nation.
