UAE M&A: What is the Value of Transactions Year on Year?

M&A transactions peaked in the UAE in 2020 at an approximate value of US$24 billion.

This was primarily led by the ~US$ 14 billion reverse merger, where certain assets of Abu Dhabi Power Corp made an offer to acquire Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC.

The second highest transaction year was in 2019, with US$ 18.5 billion worth of M&A activity.

In 2019, the activity was led by the 35% acquisition of Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company and the 40% acquisition of ADNOC Oil Pipelines, totaling US$9.6 billion, combining the two.
