Qatar's startup landscape is evolving at an impressive pace, with venture capital (VC) funding more than doubling in 2024 to US $31.6 million (QAR 115 million), up from US $13.46 million (QAR 49 million) the previous year.
Fintech remains the dominant sector, leading in both deal volume and total funding. In 2024, the sector maintained its top position with nine deals, matching its 2023 performance, while securing the highest funding at US $12.6 million (QAR 46 million)—including three of the country’s five largest deals.
Aerospace & Defence made an unexpected leap, rising 15 ranks to secure US $4 million (QAR 15 million) in funding—entirely driven by a standout deal from EMMA Systems.
Meanwhile, smaller sectors such as Advertising & Marketing and Sport & Fitness saw a surge in deal activity, propelling them into Qatar’s top five most active industries in terms of number of deals.
