The first quarter of 2024 showcased an exciting array of new investment funds across the MENA region, reflecting the diverse economic aspirations and strategic directions of the area. Seventeen new funds were launched, spanning various industries such as technology, healthcare, logistics, and media, with total commitments reaching US $7.5 billion. These ranged from the substantial US $5.2 billion Future Fund Oman, aimed at broad economic revitalization, to more focused endeavors like the Saudi Film Fund, which seeks to boost local content production.
These funds were notable not only for their size but also for their variety, encompassing venture capital initiatives, private equity, corporate investment pools, and sector-specific funds like those targeting digital health and logistics. For instance, total VC type funds raised more than US $1 billion across 8 funds.
