Uncover Announces $1.4M Funding Round
16 July 2024•
Uncover, a tech-driven beauty brand focusing on melanin-rich skincare, has successfully raised $1.4 million in its recent seed II funding round. Founded in 2021, the Kenyan startup specializes in scientifically backed skincare products tailored for women, particularly those of melanated backgrounds.
The funding round, which was oversubscribed, was co-led by EQ2 Ventures and IgniteXL Ventures, with additional support from Chui Ventures, Samata Capital, and Altree Capital. It also included a significant secondary transaction to meet investor demand.
With this investment, Uncover aims to enhance its tech platform, introduce new product lines, and expand into new markets. The company has already established a strong digital community of over 200,000 women across Kenya, Nigeria, and the diaspora. Recently, it has expanded operations into Uganda and Ghana, anticipating further growth fueled by the recent funding influx.
Uncover's platform not only supports product discovery and community engagement but also utilizes extensive data insights to personalize skincare solutions. This approach has driven a remarkable tenfold revenue increase over the past two years. Looking ahead, Uncover plans to strengthen its presence in diaspora markets, including North America, capitalizing on growing global demand for its specialized skincare offerings.
By leveraging this funding, Uncover aims to solidify its position as a leading skincare brand dedicated to serving the unique needs of melanin-rich skin worldwide.
