Spiro's Expansion into Ogun State Promises Enhanced EV Experience and Battery-Swapping Solutions

By Staff Writer 07 August 2024

Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Spiro is making a significant move by expanding its operations into Ogun State, Nigeria. This expansion aims to revolutionize transportation in the region with Spiro's innovative electric vehicles and battery-swapping technology.

Spiro's entry into Ogun State comes after a six-month proposal and has garnered support from Governor Dapo Abiodun. The company plans to establish its services across various local governments in the state, including Abeokuta, Lagos, Abuja, and Oyo.

Renowned for its state of Charge (SoC) technology, Spiro offers an enhanced riding experience through its network of swapping stations, fast and slow chargers, and remote (home) charging solutions. This technology supports a greener mode of transport and optimizes battery usage.

With over 18,000 electric motorbikes already deployed in countries such as Togo, Benin, Uganda, Kenya, and Ghana, Spiro aims to expand its services across eight districts in Nigeria. Originally founded in 2019 as M Auto Electric, Spiro has a history of advancing the auto-rickshaw industry and promoting gender inclusion in transportation.

The company's SoC billing system ensures customers only pay for the exact amount of energy used, as it measures the new charge in the battery rather than assuming a full charge regardless of usage.
