12 August 2024•
Silverbacks Holdings, a private investment firm with a focus on Africa, has made a strategic investment in NERGii, a sportstech company based in South Africa. NERGii is known for developing innovative products aimed at both recreational and professional athletes.
The investment amount remains undisclosed, but Silverbacks has secured a minority stake in NERGii and a seat on the company's board of directors. This move aligns with Silverbacks’ broader strategy to support businesses within the rapidly expanding sports sector.
NERGii's flagship product is an advanced performance-enhancing shoe insole that activates mitochondria, the energy-producing organelles in cells, functioning as a biological wearable battery. This technology is designed to naturally boost energy levels in the body, improving athletic performance.
Silverbacks Holdings sees this partnership as a key opportunity to leverage its expertise in sports, tech, and lifestyle businesses to promote NERGii’s current and future products. The firm’s executive chairman, Ibrahim Sagna, highlighted the strategic alignment with Silverbacks' existing portfolio and emphasized the potential for NERGii to disrupt the growing sports market.
NERGii’s founder, Iain Banner, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting the firm’s goal to help people worldwide improve their health and performance through the natural activation of quantum energy.
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Mauritius, Silverbacks Holdings targets investments in sports, tech, media, and lifestyle businesses across Africa, aiming for significant returns on their investments.
