Secha Capital's New Program JOIN Aims to Foster African Leadership

21 May 2024•

Secha Capital, a renowned impact investment firm focusing on growth capital, has unveiled its latest educational endeavor, the Junior Operator-Investor Network (JOIN).

This initiative aims to nurture upcoming leaders proficient in business management, operational strategies, and investment practices.

Founded by black women, Secha Capital operates under an operator-investor model, strategically investing in a diverse portfolio of companies across Southern Africa.

These investments predominantly target businesses integrating technology to propel them towards a sustainable, green economy.

Last September, Secha Capital marked a significant milestone by securing an initial funding of 300 million South African Rand (approximately 15.7 million US dollars) for its second investment fund.

The firm aims to reach a total fund size of 650 million South African Rand (about 34 million US dollars).

The JOIN program distinguishes itself by offering a hands-on learning experience that transcends theoretical teachings, immersing participants in the intricacies of business development and investment management.

Leveraging the extensive network of Secha Capital, comprising investors, entrepreneurs, and industry experts, the program seeks to groom a cadre of proficient leaders poised to shape Africa’s future.

What sets JOIN apart is its comprehensive curriculum, equipping participants with a diverse skill set essential for operator-investor roles.

Secha Capital underscores its commitment to nurturing talent capable of leading, managing, and investing in businesses, particularly those transitioning to technology-driven and environmentally conscious sectors.

Tebogo Masekwameng, a principal at Secha Capital, expressed the firm’s excitement about the launch of the JOIN program.

The initiative is viewed as a strategic step towards fostering a vibrant community of operator-investors in Africa, pivotal in propelling business growth and innovation across the continent.

Applications for the inaugural June 2024 cohort of the program are now open, inviting aspiring leaders to join the journey towards shaping Africa’s economic landscape. Interested individuals can apply here.
