Nigerian HR tech startup SeamlessHR has raised $9 million in its latest funding round, increasing its total funding to $20 million. The round was led by the Gates Foundation and Helios Digital Ventures and will support the startup's plans to expand across Africa, improve workforce productivity, and introduce AI-driven workforce management tools and embedded finance solutions.

Founded in 2018, SeamlessHR serves over 2,000 medium and large enterprises globally, managing HR and payroll processes for about 300,000 employees in 20 African countries. With offices in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya, its platform supports organizations from recruitment to retirement.

CEO Emmanuel Okeleji highlighted the startup’s mission to empower African workers through innovative solutions and responsible credit products. He also emphasized how these offerings could help alleviate challenges caused by global disruptions, such as inflation and economic instability, by enabling workers to access essentials like housing, food, and education using their employment as collateral.
