Spacetech startup SatLeo Labs has raised $2.2 million in a seed funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures, taking its total funding to $5.5 million to date.

The round also saw participation from Merak Ventures, Java Capital, IIMA-CIIE, and investor Manish Gandhi.

The proceeds will be used to advance its thermal satellite mission and scale its AI-powered platform for thermal intelligence applications.

Founded by Shravan Bhati, SatLeo Labs builds satellite-based systems to capture thermal and visible data from low Earth orbit. Its platform is designed to support use cases across defence, agriculture, urban planning, and climate monitoring.

The startup has developed its first thermal payload, TAPAS-1, and is preparing it for satellite integration. It has also started pilot deployments, including urban heat and air pollution monitoring projects with cities such as Ahmedabad and Tumakuru.

SatLeo has expanded its team to around 30 members and is building a commercial pipeline, with letters of intent exceeding $42 million.

The firm plans to focus on satellite launch readiness, commercial expansion, and scaling its thermal data capabilities over the next year.
