Peach Payments, a prominent digital payment provider from South Africa, has formed a strategic partnership with Kenyan-based conversational commerce platform Sukhiba. This collaboration introduces a new sales channel for South African merchants, enabling transactions via WhatsApp.

Founded in Cape Town in 2012, Peach Payments has established itself as the second-largest online payment gateway in South Africa, with an expanding footprint in Kenya and Mauritius. To fuel its growth across Africa, the company raised $31 million in Series A funding last year, led by Apis Partners. In July, it acquired customer software developer Operativa, further boosting its capabilities.

Sukhiba, founded in 2021 by Ananth Raj Gudipati and Abhinav Reddy, supports over 35,000 SMEs and operates across Africa and other regions. Its platform integrates product catalogs into WhatsApp, allowing merchants to handle sales, payments, and deliveries.

The Peach Payments-Sukhiba partnership introduces WhatsApp as a sales platform, providing merchants with an array of payment options, just ahead of the Black Friday sales period.
