OpenAI has successfully closed its latest funding round, raising $122 billion in committed capital and achieving a massive post-money valuation of $852 billion. The AI pioneer continues to experience explosive financial growth, currently generating $2 billion in monthly revenue. According to the company, this revenue growth rate outpaces the early trajectories of internet and mobile giants like Alphabet and Meta by four times.

The monumental funding round was anchored by strategic partners Amazon, NVIDIA, and SoftBank, alongside continued participation from long-term partner Microsoft. SoftBank co-led the investment alongside prominent firms including a16z, D.E. Shaw Ventures, MGX, and TPG, with backing from a vast array of global institutions. Notably, the round raised over $3 billion from individual investors via bank channels. Furthermore, ARK Invest will include OpenAI in several of its exchange-traded funds (ETFs), expanding retail investor access. OpenAI also bolstered its financial flexibility by expanding its undrawn revolving credit facility to approximately $4.7 billion with a syndicate of major global banks.

This capital injection follows major product milestones, including the launch of GPT-5.4 and the expansion of the Codex coding agent. ChatGPT remains the dominant force in consumer AI, now boasting over 900 million weekly active users and 50 million subscribers. Momentum is equally strong in the workplace; enterprise adoption now accounts for over 40% of OpenAI's revenue and is projected to reach parity with the consumer segment by the end of 2026.

To support this massive global scale, OpenAI is aggressively diversifying its infrastructure. While Nvidia remains its foundational partner, the company is building a broader portfolio across multiple cloud and chip providers, including partnerships with Microsoft, Google Cloud, AWS, AMD, and Broadcom.

Looking ahead, OpenAI announced plans to consolidate its technology into a unified AI "superapp." This agent-first platform will integrate ChatGPT, Codex, and browsing capabilities into a single interface, aiming to transition the company's focus from raw intelligence capabilities to seamless user utility.
