Lightrun Announces $18 Million Funding and Introduces AI-Driven Runtime Debugging Solution

By Staff Writer, 02 August 2024

Israeli startup Lightrun Inc. has announced securing $18 million in new funding while introducing their innovative Runtime Autonomous AI Debugger. Founded in 2019, Lightrun specializes in developer observability, offering a platform that enables real-time code debugging without extensive pretesting or redeployment.

Lightrun's platform, designed with a "shift left" approach, provides developers with profound insights into running applications by allowing the insertion of logs, metrics, and traces during runtime. This method significantly reduces mean time to resolution and logging costs, enhancing developer productivity and software quality.

The platform automates the troubleshooting process by hypothesizing potential root causes of runtime issues based on IT operations and observability signals. It dynamically adds snapshots and logs to specific lines of code using an observability software development kit, facilitating line-by-line runtime debugging.

The process continues iteratively until the root cause is found. Lightrun's generative AI models suggest potential root causes and validate these hypotheses with real-time production data collected by the software development kit, ensuring precise and efficient debugging.
