$4.3M Injected: Launch Africa Ventures Funds 16 African Startups in Second Fund
Early-stage venture capital firm Launch Africa Ventures has announced a total investment of $4.3 million in 16 startups across the African continent through its second fund. This follows 133 investments made via its inaugural fund.
Founded in July 2020 by Zachariah George and Janade du Plessis, with Margaret O’Connor as chairperson, Launch Africa Ventures successfully closed its first fund, Launch Africa Ventures Fund 1, in March 2022 with a total of $36.3 million. This fund attracted investments from 238 retail and institutional investors across 40 countries.
With the launch of Fund II, Launch Africa Ventures aims to continue fostering growth and scalability among Africa’s top technology-driven ventures, aspiring to make them market leaders in their respective sectors. The firm remains one of the most active pan-African investors since 2020, emphasizing its commitment to the African VC and startup ecosystem.
The second fund's investments are aligned with Launch Africa's focus on founder diversity, sector strength, market opportunities, and geographic reach. The $4.3 million has been deployed across 11 African countries to support startups that exemplify these qualities.
