Indian digital lending platform KreditBee has secured $280 million in fresh funding, pushing its valuation to $1.5 billion and officially elevating it to unicorn status. The Series E round drew backing from a mix of domestic and global investors, including Motilal Oswal Alternates, Hornbill Capital, and MUFG-supported Dragon Funds, alongside returning names such as Advent International and Premji Invest.
The latest capital injection marks a major step forward for KreditBee as it looks to deepen its footprint across India’s fast-growing digital credit market. The company plans to channel the funds into expanding its loan book, strengthening its technology stack, and advancing its use of artificial intelligence. A key focus will be improving credit underwriting models, enabling faster and more accurate risk assessments, and tailoring financial products to underserved segments.
Founded in 2016, KreditBee operates through its RBI-registered non-banking financial company and collaborates with over 10 financial institutions under co-lending partnerships. It has built a significant presence in India’s fintech ecosystem, driven by rising demand for accessible, app-based credit solutions.
The platform’s scale reflects that momentum. KreditBee reports more than 230 million app downloads and over 18 million customers, with upwards of 60 million loans disbursed to date. Its assets under management have reached approximately $1.5 billion as of early 2026. The company’s offerings span personal and business loans, loans against property, and financing for two-wheelers, alongside credit score services and UPI-linked financial products.
The funding also signals a sharp increase in valuation from its previous round. In early 2023, KreditBee raised $100 million at an estimated valuation below $1 billion. Since then, the company has grown rapidly, supported by India’s expanding digital payments infrastructure and increasing smartphone penetration.
Looking ahead, KreditBee is also preparing for its next phase of growth. Reports suggest the company is working toward shifting its domicile to India, a move often seen as a precursor to a domestic public listing.
KreditBee’s milestone comes amid a gradual rebound in India’s startup funding environment and positions it among the country’s newest unicorns in 2026. As fintech adoption accelerates, the company is betting heavily on AI and scale to stay competitive in an increasingly crowded lending landscape.
