Huawei Steps Up Competition with Apple in China with Pura 70 Series Release
In a strategic move to solidify its position in the competitive Chinese smartphone market and intensify competition against Apple, Huawei launched its latest line-up of smartphones, the Pura 70 series, on Thursday (April 18).
Replacing its renowned "P series" of devices introduced in 2012, the Chinese tech giant's unveiling of the Pura 70 series marks another milestone in its resurgence.
This move follows the discreet launch of its Mate 60 smartphone last year, equipped with a high-end chip, which drew attention and raised concerns in Washington due to U.S. sanctions aimed at restricting Huawei's access to advanced technology.
The Pura 70 series comprises four models: the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro Plus, and Pura 70 Ultra, as detailed on Huawei's official website.
With starting prices ranging from 5,499 yuan to 9,999 yuan in China, these devices directly challenge Apple's dominance in the market.
For comparison, Apple's iPhone 15 starts at 5,999 yuan, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max begins at 9,999 yuan, placing Huawei squarely in the same price brackets as its American rival.
Huawei's latest move reflects its growing confidence and determination to regain market share and pose a formidable challenge to Apple, particularly in its home turf of China.
As the battle for supremacy in the smartphone arena continues, consumers can expect intensified competition and innovation from both tech giants in the coming months.
