Gulf Air's Expansion Plans will Strengthen Its Asia-Pacific Market Presence
31 October 2023•
Gulf Air, Bahrain's esteemed national carrier, is gearing up to extend its operational reach into China by January 2024.
In a strategic maneuver closely aligned with its meticulously planned growth strategy, aimed at fortifying its global network and linking Bahrain with pivotal international destinations as part of the nation's Economic Recovery Plan, this foray marks a significant leap for Gulf Air.
The move is poised to bolster the airline's presence in the Asia-Pacific region while contributing to enhanced connectivity under China's ambitious One Belt One Road initiative.
The official announcement of Gulf Air's expansion into China took place during the Bahrain-China Investment Forum, an event hosted by the Economic Development Board of Bahrain.
The forum was part of a distinguished delegation led by Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Bahrain's Minister of Industry and Commerce.
Expressing his enthusiasm for this strategic expansion, Dr. Jeffrey Goh, the Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air Group Holding, remarked, “We are excited by the opportunity to expand our presence in the Asia-Pacific region with new flights connecting Bahrain and the cities of Guangzhou and Shanghai in China."
He continued, "China is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and a global tourism market. It is key to our strategy of calibrated network growth. These flights will offer greater choice and flexible travel experiences for passengers and create new pipelines for trade, tourism and collaboration, benefiting both nations.”
Bolstering Bilateral Trade and Tourism Relations Through Gulf Air's Expansion
China, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and economic vitality, is an attractive destination for both leisure and business travelers.
Gulf Air's introduction of flights to Guangzhou and Shanghai is expected to strengthen the bilateral trade and tourism relations that have been cultivated over the span of more than 30 years.
The flight schedule has been thoughtfully constructed to ensure seamless connections between China and the various destinations served by Gulf Air in the Middle East and Europe.
These flights will be operated using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, providing passengers with two cabins of service - a business class cabin featuring one of the most spacious premium seats, and an economy class cabin equipped with state-of-the-art seats.
Dr. Goh added, “We are confident these new flights will be appreciated by the international business community and those seeking exciting new leisure destinations and those simply looking to visit friends and family. We are equally confident that customers will enjoy our renowned Arabian hospitality on board.”
