Fonmap, the first mobile application in Turkey that digitizes access to alternative investment funds , has successfully completed its seed investment round.
Fonmap received an investment of $3 million in the investment round, which was held with the participation of Turkcell New Technologies GSYF, Tera GSYO and RePie Portföy.
Fonmap is breaking new ground in Türkiye by offering digital access to Capital Markets Board (CMB)-approved venture capital investment funds (VCIFs) and real estate investment funds (REIFs) via a mobile application.
With Fonmap, investors can make early-stage investments in future unicorns, companies in diverse sectors like energy, fintech, and telecom, as well as high-yield real estate. Fonmap also provides access to TEFAS funds, making it Türkiye's largest fund portfolio app.
Fonmap Managing Partner Sami Güzel, in his statement regarding the investment round, said:
"As Fonmap, we've ushered in a new era in the investment world. We've broken new ground in Türkiye by bringing together TEFAS funds, as well as real estate and venture capital investment funds, on a single mobile platform. This gives investors one-touch access to a broader and more diverse set of funds than they'll find anywhere else. With this investment, we will continue to transform investment habits, empower investors with data to inform their decisions, and pioneer the development of capital markets."
Liquidity increased with the share transfer feature in alternative funds
Fonmap has increased liquidity in REIFs and GSYFs, long-term funds with maturities of 7-10 years, with a share transfer feature. This feature, a first in Türkiye, allows users to sell their shares to other investors on Fonmap when they wish to partially or fully dispose of funds in their portfolios. This allows interested investors to purchase shares in funds that have not yet expired and add them to their portfolios. This feature also makes it possible to re-access funds that have been closed for issuance, increasing market liquidity.
