FireDome, an Israeli climate-tech startup inspired by the country’s Iron Dome, has debuted with $4.5 million in funding to revolutionize wildfire defense. Backed by a $3 million pre-seed round led by Third Sphere, Gravity, and other global investors, the company also received a $1.5 million grant from the Israeli Innovation Authority to advance its R&D efforts.
As wildfires intensify globally due to climate change—burning over one billion acres in 2023 and emitting 1.8 gigatons of CO2—FireDome's autonomous system offers hope. Using AI-driven hardware and advanced algorithms, it detects and extinguishes wildfires before they spread.
The system operates on a two-tiered approach: launching eco-friendly fire-retardant capsules to block fire paths and leveraging computer vision to suppress ember-ignited spot fires. CEO Gadi Benjamini emphasizes FireDome's mission to reduce rising insurance costs and build resilient, climate-adaptive communities through cutting-edge partnerships and solutions.
