Enercap and Apex Investments Join Forces to Build World’s Largest Supercap Energy Plant
Dubai-based Enercap Holdings and Abu Dhabi-based Apex Investments have joined forces to establish the world’s largest supercap energy storage manufacturing capacity, aiming to meet soaring global demand for advanced energy storage solutions. The joint venture, Enercap Energy Holding Limited, will develop a state-of-the-art, fully automated 10GWh per year facility in Abu Dhabi. In addition, they will acquire and upgrade an existing manufacturing plant in Dubai Industrial City to a capacity of 6GWh annually.
Supercap energy storage, a cutting-edge technology, outperforms the widely used lithium-ion technology with its non-degrading, long-lasting attributes and its ability to operate across a wide range of temperatures. This gives it a predictable 25-year life cycle, making it a preferred option for investors in energy storage due to its reliability and bankability.
The joint venture is expected to help meet the global demand of over 30GWh for large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). Apex will hold a 65% share in the venture, while Enercap will maintain 35%. This partnership is poised to position the UAE as a leader in the rapidly evolving supercap energy storage market.
