Kenya's Elimutab Secures Funding for Educational Expansion to Empower Kenyan Students
21 August 2024•
Kenyan edtech startup Elimutab has secured funding from Untapped Global to enhance access to education across Kenya through its affordable educational tablets. These tablets, designed to support multiple curricula including Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), Cambridge, and Montessori, come preloaded with curriculum-approved e-books, educational content, and apps that help students prepare for exams, review core subjects, and learn coding—specifically tailored to local educational needs.
Founded in 2022 by Anthony Kahinga and Grace Wairimu, Elimutab has collaborated with over 27 partners, including Untapped Global, to offer flexible payment options for parents, making it easier to afford these educational devices. The company has also joined forces with global e-learning giants like Duolingo and Google Classrooms, providing Kenyan students with world-class educational resources. In just two years, Elimutab has sold over 9,000 tablets and reached more than 120 schools across Kenya.
With the new funding, Elimutab aims to further reduce the cost of its tablets, making high-quality educational tools more accessible to students in both urban and remote areas. Untapped Global's Smart Asset Financing will also help Elimutab expand its inventory and reach, ensuring that more students across Kenya have equal access to quality education.
