DBN Accelerates Nigerian Innovation Ecosystem with Successful Techpreneur Summit 3.0

The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) has significantly advanced the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) within Nigeria's innovation ecosystem by fostering direct connections between tech innovators and potential investors. This was achieved during the recently concluded 2024 DBN Techpreneur Summit 3.0, held on July 10, 2024, in Lagos.

At the summit, Dr. Celestine Iwendi, an international scholar and Head of the Centre of Intelligence of Things at the University of Bolton, UK, delivered the keynote address. He encouraged Nigerian tech innovators to focus on developing research-based solutions that address social and environmental challenges in the country.

Dr. Tony Okpanachi, Managing Director/CEO of the Development Bank of Nigeria, highlighted that a key feature of the summit was the "DealRoom" – an exclusive session that allowed techpreneurs to meet directly with potential investors. This initiative was made possible through a partnership between DBN and Addium Capital, aiming to bridge the gap between capital seekers and investors.

The summit provided a platform for startups to pitch their ideas, network with investors, and explore funding opportunities, thereby catalyzing growth within the Nigerian tech ecosystem. Dr. Okpanachi emphasized that the initiative was not only about driving financial returns but also about encouraging entrepreneurs to develop solutions that contribute positively to Nigeria's social and environmental landscape. This approach aligns with the broader goals of sustainable development, fostering a more inclusive and resilient economy.
