24 September 2024•
Chitosolve, a homegrown startup operating within Entertech Istanbul Technopark, which is jointly supported by Istanbul University and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, has secured an investment at a valuation of $2 million for its skincare brand, Richesse Biologique. With this funding, the brand aims to expand its product range and strengthen its presence in the Turkish market, while also planning to enter international markets in the near future.
Chitosolve was established in late 2023 as a spinoff under the tech enterprise firm BİYOPOL, which focuses on developing natural and functional materials. The skincare products under the Richesse Biologique brand include a range of serums, creams, toners, and face washes made from chitosan biopolymer and other active ingredients. These formulations are distinguished by their high efficacy and natural ingredients. Emphasizing sustainability, the brand packages its products in glass containers and boxes made from seaweed waste.
Seda Çakır, founder of Chitosolve, highlighted the brand's journey, noting that BİYOPOL was founded in 2015 with the support of the Ministry of Science, Industry, and Technology. The company’s research efforts led to the development of chitosan biopolymers, with the first non-animal-based chitosan prototypes being successfully produced in Turkey by 2016.
Dr. Muhammed Kasapoğlu, General Manager of Entertech Istanbul Technopark, acknowledged Turkey's growing efforts in the biomedical field. He noted that while the sector has not yet reached its full market potential, numerous innovative ideas are emerging, particularly in research and development. Chitosolve, as one of the startups within the technopark, continues to develop high-value products with the aim of becoming a global brand, and the technopark remains committed to supporting its growth.
