A premier global venture debt firm based in India, Stride Ventures has announced Maalexi as its first venture debt investment of USD 1 million, part of a larger commitment in the GCC region. This announcement represents a significant milestone in the company’s international strategy. The investment is expected to expedite Maalexi’s expansion objectives and enhance its operational proficiencies, thereby promoting more efficacious procurement and distribution of food and agricultural produce throughout the region.

Maalexi raised $1 M investment from global venture debt firm Stride Ventures

Delhi-based venture debt company Stride Ventures has infused INR 50 Cr in agritech startup WayCool as a part of its debt funding round. 

With this round, Stride Ventures plans to expand its portfolio of new-age Indian startups that are working in diverse sectors.

Meanwhile, WayCool is looking to utilise funds to make tech-related expansions.

Commenting on the debt funding, Chinna Pardhasardhi, chief finance officer of WayCool, said, “We at WayCool have been taking several tech-driven initiatives to innovate and bolster the Indian food economy. We welcome Stride Ventures to the Waycool family joining us in our journey to build one of the leading food and agritech platforms.”

Stride Ventures Infuses INR 50 Cr In Agritech Startup WayCool

Cloud kitchen brand Rebel Foods has picked up another debt round amid funding winter. The parent company of EatSure (previously Faasos) has raised Rs 75 crore in debt from Catalyst Trustship (Northern Arc) and Stride Ventures.

The board at Rebel Foods has passed a special resolution to issue 7,500 Series F non-convertible debentures at an issue price of Rs 1,00,000 per debenture to raise Rs 75 crore, regulatory filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) show.

Catalyst Trustship has invested Rs 25 crore while Stride Venture pumped in Rs 50 crore. In 2022, the Bengaluru-based firm had raised Rs 225 crore in debt across three rounds from InnoVen Capital, Trifecta Ventures and Alteria Capital.

Exclusive: Rebel Foods raises debt from Northern Arc and Stride

MUMBAI: Venture debt firm Stride Ventures on Wednesday said it has achieved the first close of its second fund--Stride Ventures India Fund II--securing commitments of Rs550 crore of its target corpus of Rs1,000 crore,

The firm has a greenshoe option to raise an additional Rs875 crore over the target corpus.

Having received approval from Securities Exchange Board of India (Sebi) in June, the firm has been able to raise more than half of its targeted corpus of Rs1,000 crore within two months since the announcement of the launch, it said.

It aims to ramp up deployment in late stage startups across sectors like B2B commerce, healthcare, agritech, fintech and D2C brands, with an average ticket size up to Rs75 crore.

In addition to family offices and institutional investors, the firm will diversify its investor base outside India for Stride Ventures India Fund II, on the lines of the maiden fund.

"The considerable tailwinds seen in the Indian start-up ecosystem present a perfect opportunity to invest in the potential of venture debt in India. With the majority of investors from our maiden fund returning to invest in the new fund, we have had a quicker-than-expected first close,” said Ishpreet Gandhi, founder and Managing Partner, Stride Ventures.

Stride Ventures announces 1st close of Stride Ventures India Fund II at Rs550 cr

Fintech startup Perfios has raised Rs 50 crore debt from existing backer Stride Ventures. This is the first debt round of the Bengaluru-based company in 2022.

The board at Perfios has passed a special resolution to issue 5,000 Series B2 non-convertible debentures (NCD) to Stride Ventures at an issue price of Rs 1,00,000 per debenture to raise Rs 50 crore or $6.1 million, the company’s regulatory filing with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) shows.

The fourteen-year-old company offers a host of services to financial institutions including income analysis, fraud checks, verification and automated customer onboarding. The company claims to have a presence in over 18 counties, working with around 735 financial institutions.

Perfios had raised $70 million in a Series C funding round in February this year and valued at around $400 million (post-allotment). It has scooped up around $100 million in funding to date.

Currently, Warburg is the largest shareholder in the company with 41.69% stake, followed by Bessemer which holds 32.12% cap table. The company’s co-founders – VR Govindarajan and Debashish Chakraborty own 7.52% and 7.39% stakes respectively.

While Perfios is yet to file its financial numbers for FY22, its revenue from operations decreased 2.1% to Rs 72.5 crore during FY21 from Rs 74 crore in FY20. As per its annual financial statement with the RoC, the company’s losses surged 19.5% to Rs 32.65 crore in FY21 as compared to Rs 27.32 crore in the previous financial year (FY20).

Amid funding winter, several startups have been raising debt funds as it helps founders to get working capital without diluting any equity. The list includes HomeLane, Rebel Foods, Ather Energy, Epigamia, ElectricPe, BeatO, Ayekart, Mobikwik and DaMENSCH among many others.

In August, Stride Ventures had announced the close of its Fund II at $200 million. Yubi, Zepto, Uni, Upstox, Moneyview, Waycool, and HomeLane, among others are its portfolio companies.
