Saudi Arabia-based e-commerce enablement platform Zid, has raised $7 million (SAR 26 million) in a Series A funding round, led by Global Ventures alongside existing investors Elm and Arzan VC.

Founded in 2017, Zid helps retailers build their own online stores and then integrates them with the supply chain and third-party logistics companies.

Over the past two years, Zid’s gross merchandise volume (GMV) has grown 10x. Its merchant network now boasts more than5,300 stores across 14 different categories.

“Zid has transformed from a single product to a company providing a rich-toolbox and variety solutions helping our customers and improving the e-commerce ecosystem. This achievement is due to the hard work and dedication of our stellar team, capable of achieving any goal,” said Sultan AlAsmi, co-founder and CEO of Zid.

Zid will use the new funds to grow its footprint, expand to other retail verticals, attract talent, and automate more tools to improve the e-commerce experience for its customers.

Zid raises $7 million Series A funding

In the ever-evolving landscape of agriculture, technology continues to revolutionize traditional practices, and the latest breakthrough comes from Israeli startup Bluewhite, which recently secured a substantial $39 million in funding.

The startup's focus lies in autonomous robots designed to retrofit onto any tractor, enabling autonomous operation—a service model dubbed "robots-as-a-service."

The injection of funds will drive further research and development efforts, with a specific focus on enhancing data capabilities within its service stack, known as "Compass," and refining its autonomous hardware technology, branded "Pathfinder."

Bluewhite's technology, incorporating AI, computer vision, and advanced algorithms, offers comprehensive insights into crop management, aiding farmers in optimizing their yields.

Expanding its presence in existing markets and venturing into new territories are also on Bluewhite's agenda. The company has witnessed significant traction in the United States, particularly in California and Washington, catering to a diverse clientele ranging from small family farms to large-scale crop growers.

To date, Bluewhite's robots have amassed an impressive 50,000 hours of autonomous farming across 150,000 acres.

This latest funding round, classified as Series C, values Bluewhite between $200 million and $300 million post-money, marking a substantial increase from its $130 million valuation in 2021.

Insight Partners leads the round, joined by new investors Alumni Ventures and LIP Ventures, along with existing backers Entrée Capital, Jesselson, and Peregrine Ventures, as well as undisclosed contributors.

Blue White Robotics Announces $37M Series B Led by Insight Partners to Revolutionize Autonomous Farming

Israeli autonomous vehicle platform startup Blue White Robotics (BWR) has announced a $10 million funding round. The round was led by Jesselson Investment, alongside Peregrine VC, Entrée Capital and an investment group led by Datoroama founder Ran Sarig. BWR, which employs around 50 people, 40 of them in Israel, had previously raised $1.5 million from Entrée Capital.

Israeli startup Blue White Robotics raises $10 million for autonomous vehicle platform

In the latest development, Kuda, a startup out of Nigeria that operates a popular mobile-first challenger bank for consumers and (soon) small businesses, is announcing that it has raised $10 million — the biggest seed round ever to be raised in Africa. The funding comes on the back of strong demand for its services and its ambitions — according CEO Babs Ogundeyi — to become the go-to bank not just for those living on the continent, but for the African diaspora.

Nigeria’s Kuda raises $10M to be the mobile-first challenger bank for Africa

Casava, Nigeria’s first 100 per cent digital insurance company, has secured US$4 million in pre-seed funding to provide affordable and accessible insurance products for millions of Nigerians. 
Launched last year, Casava aims to make insurance affordable for income earners by leveraging technology, behavioural science and empathy. The startup is a vertically integrated company with a wholly-owned microinsurance carrier in Nigeria and a full technology stack to power it.
The US$4 million pre-seed funding round was led by Target Global with participation from Entrée Capital, Oliver Jung, Monzo founder Tom Blomfield and Stash founders Ed Robinson and Brandon Krieg. African founders such as Uche Pedro (founder of BellaNaija), Babs Ogundeyi and Musty Mustapha (co-founders of Kuda), Shola Akinlade (co-founder of Paystack), Olugbenga “GB” Agboola (co-founder of Flutterwave), Honey Ogundeyi (founder of Edukoya), Opeyemi Awoyemi (co-founder of Jobberman), and others also participated in the round.

Nigerian insurtech startup Casava secures $4m pre-seed funding

In the news today is one such company: Casava. The self-described “Nigeria’s first 100% digital insurance company” has raised a $4 million pre-seed round. It’s the largest pre-seed for an African insurtech company and second-largest for a Nigerian startup after Nestcoin, whose round was announced a day before.
Berlin-based Target Global led the pre-seed round, with foreign VCs and angel investors such as Entrée Capital, Oliver Jung, Tom Blomfield, Ed Robinson and Brandon Krieg participating.
The local investors involved are all founders. They include Uche Pedro, Babs Ogundeyi, Musty Mustapha, Shola Akinlade, Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, Honey Ogundeyi, Tosin Eniolorunda and Opeyemi Awoyemi, among others.

The round, led by Tiger Global — the VC firm’s third major investment in Africa this year after Flutterwave and FairMoney — also had participation from new investors Target Global (an investor in neobank Kuda), General Catalyst and SBI Investment.

Hibob, an HR and employee benefits platform for small to medium-sized businesses, has raised $17.5 million in Series A funding. Leading the round is U.S. VC firm Battery Ventures, with participation from Arbor Ventures, and Fidelity’s Eight Roads Ventures.
