DIFC FinTech Hive&nbsp;has launched its 2020 Accelerator Programme, where attendees will go on a&nbsp;&ldquo;virtual&rdquo; trip around the world with the startups at the&nbsp;Investor Day. The startups&rsquo; founding teams will be presenting, from different parts of the world to attendees on 30 November 2020, with a spotlight on their Middle East strategies.

Dubai, UAE: 27 November 2018 &ndash;&nbsp;FinTech Hive at DIFC, the first and largest financial technology accelerator in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, marked today another milestone in its continued support for financial innovation with the completion of the 2018 edition of its accelerator programme, launched in collaboration with Accenture. The number of start-ups in the programme doubled to 22 from 11 in the 2017 cohort.&nbsp; Along with one additional start-up, selected as the winner of the Accenture Innovation Awards at GITEX Future Stars, they presented cutting-edge solutions to over 350 investors, partners and representatives from government entities. The event was also attended by His Excellency Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC.

Dubai-based financial technology (fintech) startup Rise, has raised an investment round led by Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP) in partnership with Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Fintech Fund, 500 Startups, Khwarizmi Ventures and Phoenician Funds. The investment amount was not disclosed.

FlexxPay, a FinTech company with offices in the GCC and Europe, focusing on employee benefit solutions, announced that&nbsp;MEC Ventures, a newly established vehicle created jointly by&nbsp;MSA, a Chinese venture capital fund with more than US$1 billion of assets under management together with Bahrain based&nbsp;Al Salam Bank, has invested in FlexxPay&rsquo;s pre-series A funding round.&nbsp;

UAE’s FlexxPay receives new investment from MEC Ventures

UAE FinTech FlexxPay raised approximately $1.5 million (Dh5.5m) in a pre-series A round from funders including Wamda Capital,&nbsp;the Dubai venture capital firm that has invested in prominent regional start-ups such as Souq and Careem. FlexxPay, which allows employees to access part of their already-earned salaries in between pay cheques, signed up its first batch of UAE corporate customers in June and expanded to Saudi Arabia in September.

The round was led by Mubadala Investment Company with 500 Startups, Kuwait Projects Company, Shorooq Partners, Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP), DIFC, Hambro Perks Oryx Fund, HALA Ventures and Vision Ventures also participating. The company is a partner of the Hub71 community in Abu Dhabi as the platform continues to scale its services across the region. Representatives of Mubadala and 500 Startups are joining Sarwa&rsquo;s Board of Directors.

The round was led by Anthemis Exponential Ventures which was joined by a consortium of investors including&nbsp;Knuru Capital,&nbsp;Wamda,&nbsp;Commercial Bank of Dubai,&nbsp;DIFC FinTech Fund,&nbsp;Accion Venture Lab,&nbsp;Greenhouse Capital&nbsp;and&nbsp;Hambro Perks Oryx Fund, amongst others. NOW Money also received supporting funding from&nbsp;Expo 2020&nbsp;and card scheme&nbsp;Visa.
