Uplift AI, a Pakistani voice AI startup, has secured $3.5 million in funding led by Y Combinator, an accelerator behind Airbnb, Dropbox, and GitLab, alongside Indus Valley Capital, Pakistan’s leading early-stage venture fund. According to a statement, the funding round also saw participation from Pioneer Fund, Conjunction, Moment Ventures and angel investors from Silicon Valley. Founded by Zaid Qureshi and Hammad Malik, former Apple and Amazon engineers, Uplift AI develops voice AI models for regional languages like Urdu, Punjabi, and Balochi — so people can use technology by just speaking in their local language.

Uplift AI raises $3.5mn in seed funding, eyes thousands of jobs in Pakistan

Uplift AI was born from this insight. Founded in March 2024 by Malik and fellow former Apple and Amazon engineer Zaid Qureshi, the startup is building voice-based technology that lets people speak to devices in their native languages. The company has announced that it has raised $3.5 million in funding from Y Combinator, Indus Valley Capital and others to expand its work. The problem Uplift AI is trying to address is structural. According to World Bank data, around 40 per cent of Pakistanis aged 15 and above cannot read or write a short, simple sentence about everyday life, which effectively excludes them from text-based systems.

Krave Mart, a grocery delivery startup, has raised Pakistan’s third-largest funding round for the year, reported Bloomberg on Saturday. The Karachi-based rapid grocery delivery company raised the $6.25 million round over the past year, Kassim Shroff, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Krave Mart, was quoted as saying by Bloomberg. The company said the funds will help the startup reach profitability in 2024. As per the report, investors participating in the funding included Y Combinator, football manager and former player Keisuke Honda, JAM Fund, Rebel Fund, Decart Ventures as well as existing backers including Conjunction Capital and Zayn Capital.

PostEx, one of Pakistan’s leading fintechs, announces a $7.3 million pre-Series A funding round.  The round was led by Conjunction Capital, the technology-focused global venture capital firm. Other participants included new investors (Dash Ventures, Sanabil500) and existing investors (VSQ, FJ Labs, and Zayn VC).

PostEx, a Lahore, Pakistan-based developer of a hybrid model of fintech and logistics to access to capital, raised $7.3M in Pre Series A funding.

The round was led by Conjunction Capital, along with Dash Ventures, Sanabil500, VSQ, FJ Labs, and Zayn VC.

The company intends to use the funds to consolidate its market position in Pakistan and support expansion into the GCC.
