Shields are boards that can be plugged on top of the Arduino PCB “Printed circuit board” extending its capabilities. The different shields follow the same philosophy as the original toolkit: they are easy to mount, and cheap to produce.

Basically the product is two parts, first part is a hardware board that’s physically connected to the Arduino board from one side and to a smart phone from the other side, the second part is an Android app on smart phones where the user can use the app to make the smart phone any input or output to the Arduino board.

The objective of the product is to provide faster and cheaper way of prototyping ideas for electronics hobbyists.

Egypt’s Vetwork raises seed funding round led by Cairo Angels

Cairo Angels, an investment firm that focuses on supporting startup projects in the Middle East and Africa, has announced that it is investing in the Egypt-based delivery platform Bosta. The investment comes at the back of another investment made at Bosta by the Dubai-based Numu Capital. Bosta, a logistics tech startup that allows customers in Egypt to send, receive and track deliveries online, is planning to use the investment to expand across the Middle East and Africa region.

Cairo-based B2B ecommerce marketplace Fatura has raised $3 million in a pre-Series A co-led by Sawari Ventures and Arzan Venture Capital, it announced today. Egypt Ventures, EFG-EV, Cairo Angels, and Khwarizmi Ventures also participated in the deal. The startup has previously raised an undisclosed amount of money in a seed round in July 2020.

Egyptian angel investment network Cairo Angels on Tuesday has announced starting investment in TransportTech startup Buseet. Buseet, an Egyptian startup operating in the transport-tech sector in Cairo and Dubai, will use the fresh investment to expand its footprint in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA), as well as offer further products to its clients.

After meeting at Startup Weekend Cairo in 2011, the founders of event organizing platform Eventtus launched their startup in late 2011, quickly enabling event listings around the globe. Now they have just secured their first round of funding at EGP 1.2 million (US $174,145) from Vodafone Ventures Egypt and Cairo Angels, which they hope to use to begin formal marketing, launch a new monetization strategy, and expand their reach across the region and the globe.
