Graph detailing fundraising by gaming startups in the Middle East & Africa for 2024, showcasing totals and averages by region.

MEAPT gaming startup funding 2024 reveals a sector experiencing rapid expansion but uneven capital distribution. Across the Middle East, Africa, Pakistan, and Turkey, gaming startups collectively secured more than US$3.4 billion across 468 companies. Yet despite this impressive total, the funding map remains highly concentrated, with Israel and Turkey alone capturing more than three-quarters of all capital deployed in the region.

Israel's Deep-Tech Dominance in MEAPT Gaming Startup Funding 2024

Israel maintained a commanding lead in 2024, raising US$1.6 billion across 146 gaming startups, with an average deal size of US$11 million. This dominance stems from Israel’s deeply mature venture ecosystem, thanks to decades of deep-tech innovation, strong cybersecurity roots, and an investor network highly attuned to global gaming trends.

Israeli gaming companies often sit at the intersection of gaming, adtech, data analytics, and monetization platforms, enabling scalable mobile-first businesses that appeal to both regional and international investors. The country’s established secondary markets and steady IPO pipeline also contribute to a liquidity environment that few other MEAPT ecosystems can match.

In MEAPT Gaming Startup Funding 2024, Turkey Rises as the Mobile Gaming Hub

Turkey followed closely with US$961 million raised across 87 startups, also averaging US$11 million per deal. Istanbul has become a powerful hub for mobile gaming studios, producing globally successful hits and attracting significant venture interest from Europe, Asia, and the U.S.

Much of Turkey’s success lies in its emphasis on rapid prototyping, aggressive user acquisition strategies, and a thriving community of veteran gaming founders who have reinvested back into the ecosystem. As a result, Turkey continues to rise as one of the most vibrant gaming economies outside of traditional Western markets.

The Emerging Potential of African Gaming

Africa secured US$455.9 million across 78 startups, with an average deal size of US$5.8 million. Nigeria remains the continent’s standout performer, driven by an emerging blend of gaming, fintech integrations, and blockchain-enabled monetization models. Meanwhile, South Africa showcases strong ecosystem maturity but lags in total funding raised, suggesting either investor hesitation or an untapped opportunity for new capital inflows.

Government Strategy Driving GCC Momentum in MEAPT Gaming Startup Funding 2024

The GCC attracted US$356.5 million across 82 gaming startups, led almost entirely by the UAE, which accounted for US$347 million of the total. Despite a lower average deal size of US$4.3 million, the region’s gaming momentum is reinforced by government-driven strategies such as Dubai’s X-Stadium initiative, Saudi Arabia’s NEOM and Qiddiya projects, and national programs aimed at building world-class esports and immersive-tech infrastructure. GCC markets are prioritizing gaming not only as entertainment but as an economic diversification pillar.

Yet, Funding Disparity Continues…

By contrast, Pakistan and the rest of the Middle East generated only US$41.6 million across 26 startups, underscoring how capital remains tightly clustered within a handful of leading countries. This MEAPT Gaming Startup Funding 2024 disparity highlights vast whitespace for emerging ecosystems to attract gaming-focused venture capital, accelerate studio development, and strengthen regional pipelines for game design, publishing, and monetization.
