In 2021, global EV sales doubled 2020 figures and tripled 2019 figures with many announcing that the Electric Vehicle revolution so many have been talking about for years, had finally arrived. Some countries like Norway and the Netherlands have experienced even more astonishing rates of adoption. In 2021, 30% of all newly sold vehicles in the Netherlands were electrified.
In Norway, 86% of all new car sales were plug-in electric vehicles in 2021, and over 90% of all new car sales are expected to be electric by the end of 2022; these are astonishing figures when you consider that only 10% of new cars sold each year fall into the hybrid, gas and diesel category - combined.
