Germany’s sudden spike in EV purchases in 2020 and 2021 is largely attributed to government subsidies and grants. You could get up to €9,000 on an electric car purchase. In 2022, the amount has decreased to €6,000. The government plans to phase out fully electric car subsidies by reducing the amount to €4,000 in 2023, and €3,000 in 2024 and 2025.
