Egypt has 27 governorates, New Valley (El Wadi El Gedid) being the largest covering an area of 440,098 km2. In 2021, the country’s population was estimated to be around 105
million with over 25% of the inhabitants living in the top 3 cities: Cairo (21.3 million), Alexandria (5.4 million), and Bur Said (783 thousand).

Its large population, of which 75% are under 40 years old, is relatively young, having a median age of 24.8 years.

Egypt’s economy is the 21st wealthiest in the world and the second in the MENA region after Saudi Arabia. It also ranks as the 36th largest economy in the world, holding a GDP of US$396.3 billion in 2021.
