Egypt M&A: What is the Trend in Transactions Through the Years?

Ever since the 2016 liberalization of exchange rate to a fully floating currency, Egypt has leaped forward in development via reforms and investment.

This has paid dividends as foreign direct investments peaked in 2019 at US$ 9 billion and yearly volume in M&A increased YoY peaking at 128 transactions in 2020.

Egypt has been quite active in terms of acquisitions having witnessed 463 transactions during the same period.

In comparison, the UAE was the only country that witnessed higher numbers at 645 transactions.

Egypt M&A peaked in 2020 with 128 transactions and 2020 was the only other year with 100 transactions and above.
