Over 60% of the Chinese population live in large urban areas in multi-unit dwellings or high-rise buildings, where they are unable to install charging plugs in garages. EV adopters in metropolitan areas rely on public charging, specifically DC fast chargers. Of the 1.147 million public charge points available in the country at the end of 2021, 470,000 units (41%) were fast chargers.
