Gender Parity in African Tech Startups

In 2023, 107 funded startups, or 26.3% of the total, included at least one female in their founding team. This marks a significant improvement compared to 2022, when only 20.2% of ventures had a female co-founder. While these signs of progress are encouraging, there remains a considerable journey towards achieving gender parity in funding. Notably, only 62 (15.3%) of the 406 funded startups are led by a female CEO.
